Krewe de Mayahuel hosts their annual Día de Muertos Fiesta and Procession! Krewe de Mayahuel invites you to one of Mexico’s most vibrant and meaningful cultural celebrations right here in New Orleans! This Día de Muertos event is a /mezcla/ (mix) of the ancient Mexican tradition that honors those who have passed on to the spiritual realm, with a New Orleans twist. The late afternoon brings a fiesta featuring the Danzantes del Krewe de Mayahuel, followed by DJ Jorge, plus food and drink, dance, arts, crafts, and face painting! Following the fiesta will be a solemn yet colorful procession of hundreds of /calacas /(skeletons). The event concludes with the creation of an ofrenda (offering/altar) followed by traditional mariachi music by Mariachis Jalisco The fiesta begins at *4:00 pm at Markey Park *in the Bywater neighborhood. *The procession rolls from Markey Park at 7:00 pm and ends at the St Roch Cemetery #1 *in the St Roch neighborhood. Wear your favorite Mexican attire and /calavera/ (skull) mask, bring a photo of your deceased loved one and a candle, and join in the procession.
