Louisiana SPCA
he Louisiana Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (LA/SPCA) is a private 501 ©(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to the elimination of animal suffering. Chartered in 1888, we are the oldest and most comprehensive animal welfare organization in the state, providing care and basic medical services for thousands of homeless and unwanted animals each year. Our nonprofit tax ID # is 72-0471368.
Our mission is to advocate for the animals of Louisiana by advancing their welfare, promoting their interests and fostering the human-animal bond through innovative programs, education and service. Our philosophy is to provide a safe haven for all homeless creatures. Our guiding principle is to improve the quality-of-life for all the companion animals we assist.
Through aggressive adoption programs, high volume/affordable spay/neuter and humane education we offer the best possible scenario to re-home our adoptable animals and combat pet overpopulation.
Our adoption hours are Monday-Saturday 10 a.m.-4 p.m.; Sundays noon- 4 p.m.
We receive animals 24-hours a day. To drop off a stray animal after 5 p.m. or before 8 a.m. please visit our back gate.
