Zack Smith is a fine art and commercial portrait photographer that has been documenting the social, musical and cultural landscapes of Louisiana for the past 15 years. As both a musician, artist, and storyteller, Smith specializes in environmental portraiture, performance, and street documentary photography. He's done intimate portraits of countless musicians from Al Green to Big Freedia, and Jim James to Tony Clifton.

His work has appeared in ad campaigns for The Louisiana Public Health Institute, Yamaha, St. Charles Vision, Krewe du Optic, Dirty Coast and SOPO. Smith is very involved in the local music scene, and is a staff photographer for the New Orleans Jazz and Heritage Festival and French Quarter Fest. He is a frequent contributor for Offbeat Magazine and Sonic (Sweden) and over the years has photographed dozens of album covers and press photographs for local and international artists.

Since 2003 Zack has been a dedicated photography instructor with the New Orleans Academy of Fine Art and in 2014 launched his own Zack Smith Photography Workshop series. Zack's motto has always been "Shoot for the Wall" and teaches that each composition you make should have "Intention in Capture and a Purposeful Presentation" so that you reach your potential as a visual storyteller.

Smith has been awarded "Best Music Photographer" from Offbeat Magazine in 2009, and has twice been voted "New Orleans Best Photographers" by Gambit Magazine readers in 2013/2014.

Zack's work is his love, and he loves his work. He also is a drummer for local rock band, Rotary Downs and has never quite figured out how to drum and photograph at the same time.
