The New Orleans Film Society is a non-profit cultural organization dedicated to providing all audiences access to a diversity of local, national and international film and video. Founded in 1989, NOFS presents year-round film programming including the annual New Orleans Film Festival in October, a French Film Festival each July, monthly screenings and events designed to benefit local film audiences, artists and professionals, and collaborations intended to extend the reach of film into the community.

The New Orleans Film Society is dedicated to advancing the art of film by giving the community greater access to films that are not available at the local theaters, encouraging filmmakers to create new works and promoting New Orleans as a desirable location for filmmakers around the world. The Society strongly believes that now more than ever it is important to position New Orleans as an attractive and viable option to filmmakers worldwide. NOFS strives to build collaborations with local educational institutions to promote awareness and appreciation of the art of film making, as well as a knowledgeable and trained work force ready to produce “big budget” pictures.

The Society has collaborated with other organizations such as the New Orleans Jazz and Heritage Foundation (NOJHF) to assist in attracting more film business to Louisiana and to promote the film and music production tax credits.
