"The architectural textures of New Orleans tell the city's hidden history: crumbling brick, rain-slicked construction mortar, crusty walls and muckish streets. After moving to NOLA, I struggled with starting over again in a new city where everyone was a stranger. Wanting to capture the inner lives of strangers, I superimposed drawn portraits on top of photo textures (metal, papyrus, plaster, sand, etc.) that represented each character's symbolic inner demons, laid bare for the world to see."
