Jarrell Hamilton is a Mother, Educator, Performer, Choreographer, and Scholar.

She has a Bachelor of Fine Arts Degree from Southern Methodist University in Dallas, TX and currently earning her Master’s Degree at Tulane University in the Interdisciplinary Dance Program. Jarrell initiated her studies at NORD/NOBA Center for Dance (New Orleans Recreational Department/New Orleans Ballet Association), N.O.C.C.A. (New Orleans Center for Creative Arts), and has continued her creative endeavors at the Alvin Ailey American Dance Theatre, San Francisco Conservatory, Jacob’s Pillow Improv Traditions Institute, American Dance Festival, the Urban Bush Women Summer Leadership Institute and U.B.W. Choreographic Residency. Ms. Hamilton is a five time Big Easy Classical Arts Award nominee, 2016 “Best Modern Presentation,” 2013 winner for "Best Contemporary Choreographer” and Coming Up Taller Awardee for President's Committee and Humanities, Tulane School of Liberal Arts Fellowship Awardee and American College Dance Association Honoree for Choreography. She has organized two benefit concerts in New Orleans, a benefit for the Haiti victims of the 2009 Tsunami disaster and the following year a Christmas Benefit for the New Orleans Covenant House and Tulane’s Drop-In Center orphanage and homeless adolescents. She has also had the honor to work with acclaimed organizations such as Asé Cultural Arts Center, Crossroads Creative Forces, NORD/NOBA, N.O.C.C.A. (New Orleans Center for Creative Arts), KidSmart, Young Audience, Volunteers of America, YAYA: Silence is Violence, Junebug Productions, KM Dance Project, Exhibit Dance Collective, and Third Eye Theatre. In 2018, Ms. Hamilton will present her first full-length performance work entitled, “Episodes,” as a part of her fulfillment of her Master's in Fine Arts thesis at Tulane University.

Recent Credits include, Jelly’s Last Jam (Le Petite Theatre), Ain’t Misbehavin’, Bob Hope and Friends ( National World War II Museum), Dooky Chase Foundation 90th Celebration, Unheard Voices NOLA, E P I S O D E S (Directed and Choreographed by Jarrell Hamilton), Definitive Femme Festival, and Krewe Du Kanaval with Arcade Fire.
