Groovesect
Groovesect is one of the premier funk bands in the city of New Orleans, defined by its climactic energy and memorable melodies. The band was formed in 2007 by Danny Abel (guitar) and Colin Davis (drums), and quickly rose through the ranks of the NOLA music scene. The band won Best Funk Group in the 2007 Best of the Big Easy awards and went on to play festivals such as High Sierra, Gathering of the Vibes, Voodoo Fest, and French Quarter Fest, just to name a few. The group also became friends with Fred Wesley (trombone, James Brown, P-Funk) after opening for him at Tipitina's, and went on to do a few national tours with him joining the band.

In 2012, after some personal hardships arose, the band took a hiatus. The members continued to play around NOLA and tour nationally with different groups. This period of time off has given the musicians a new sense of maturity and the sound the band has these days is stronger, funkier, and more confident than ever before.

Groovesect is a band you do not want to miss. It will keep you dancing all night long, and leave you wanting more.
