Putumayo World Music 25th Anniversary Kick-Off Event
Putumayo World Music 25th Anniversary Kick-Off Event

Putumayo World Music will kick off its 25-year anniversary celebration with a special event and album release party for the newest album, New Orleans Party. The event will feature performances by Dr. Michael White, Gregg Stafford, and special guest Leroy Jones. Proceeds from the event will benefit the New Orleans Musicians’ Clinic.

Founded in 1993, Putumayo was the first company to market international music through hundreds of boutiques, gift shops, health food stores and other non-traditional environments. In 2015, Putumayo moved its headquarters to New Orleans after more than two decades of introducing people around the world to American roots music and bringing international sounds to a U.S. audience.

In celebration of Putumayo’s 25th Anniversary, and as a nod to New Orleans’ Tricentennial, Putumayo is releasing its newest compilation, New Orleans Party, on May 25. The album features many of New Orleans’ most widely recognized and celebrated artists including Dave Bartholomew, Dr. John, Dr. Michael White with Gregg Stafford, “Big Al” Carson, Leroy Jones, The Preservation Hall Jazz Band featuring Duke Dejan, and more.
