Krewe of Carrollton
Krewe of Carrollton
Parade rolls at noon from Carondolet St. and Napoleon Ave. and is followed by King Arthur and Alla.

This parading club was founded in 1924 and is named after the uptown neighborhood of Carrollton – once a small township located on the edge of Orleans and Jefferson Parishes. The group started as the Seventh District Carnival and Social Club and began staging the annual “Carrollton Carnival” on Fat Tuesday. When rain washed out most of Mardi Gras in 1933, the men staged the only daytime parade of the season. The outbreak of World War II and a fire that destroyed its deni caused the club to fall into abeyance until 1947 when the Krewe of Carrollton reorganized and staged a colorful 12-float parade. - Arthur Hardy
