Big Al Carson

A native New Orleanean, Alton "Big Al" Carson began his musical studies in the New Orleans school system and continued his formal training at Xavier University of New Orleans. "Big Al", as he is known in music circles, began his professional career as a tuba player with great groups, such as, Doc Paulin's Dixieland Brass Band, Herman-Sherman's Young Tuxedo Brass Band, Dejan's Olympia Brass Band, and Teddy Riley's Royal Brass Band.

As an accomplished vocalist, "Big Al" has been featured with Sigmond Walker's Diplomat's Big Band and has performed with Kid Johnson's Big Band. "Big Al" became the lead vocalist in the Sterling Silver Band and performed for the Louisiana World Exposition in 1984. He currently sings lead for the Blues Masters and performs around the New Orleans area, as he has been for years.
