Despite Katrina,
Rita, Biblical Floodwaters, and the Federal Emergency Management
Agency, New Orleans plans mirth and revelry for the 150th celebration
of Mardi Gras in the city.
New Orleans city officials, krewe captains
and community leaders have agreed on an eight-day Mardi Gras celebration
in 2006. The fluid plan calls for parading the weekend of Saturday

Thursday February 23 through Mardi Gras weekend culminating on
Fat Tuesday, February 28, 2006. All parades will follow the traditional
Uptown route which begins at Napoleon Avenue, winds down St. Charles,
through the Warehouse District and downtown area to Canal Street.
